Written by Isaac Wardell – Porter’s Gate

The peace of the Lord be with you.
And also with You.
Let us pray.

We give thanks to You, God our Father,
Maker of the Universe, for the unity and order of created things;
for the resources of the earth;
for the granite on which this city rests;
for the sunlight that pours through our windows; and for the water that cleanses us;

for the craftsmanship that forms chairs to our bodies;
for the joy of every new discovery;
for industry and commerce;

for scholarship and public health;
for the just and the well-ordered:
Let us bless the Lord.
We bless You, God our Father!

We give thanks to You, our Lord Jesus Christ,
for Your obedience fulfilled on the cross;
for Your victory over evil and death;
for Your care for Your people;
for the value You gave to human life;
for the dignity You gave to human labor;
for the tenderness with which You received human love:
Let us bless the Lord.
We bless You, Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to You, God the Holy Spirit,
for Your continuing presence and power in our world;
that You will accomplish every good work prepared in us and through us,
that, through Your power, the Word of God will not return void,
for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
for the growing of the seed;
for the breath in our lungs;
for the working of our minds;
for the animation of our hands:

Let us bless the Lord.
We bless You, Holy Spirit.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever –
world without end. Amen.

This is the Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Let us pray.

For all who seek, for all who labor, for all who study, for all who discern, for all
who look for Your goodness and truth in the hidden places of this world, that all who
seek You may find You, we pray,
Lord, hear our prayer.

For all who protect life, in the fields of medicine, of law, of social work, that You
would bind them up for the work set before them, we pray,
Lord, hear our prayer.

For abandoned children, for victims of violence and brutality, that they would be
delivered, Lord, we pray.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For those who have responsibilities in public life, that they may act with
integrity and for the good of all people, we pray.
Lord, hear our prayer.

Risen Lord, however poor our prayer is, we know that the one who hears our
prayer can do all things, and even more than we can think to ask. O Lord hear these
prayers of Your people.
