If you’re designing platforms for BP
If you’re in marketing for Chevron
If you’re engineering wind and solar for Nextera
If you’re seeking out new resources for Saudi Aramco
If you clean the floors at Shell.
If your work is connected to powering our collective life, would you please stand. We want to pray over you today.
Prayer
God of all creation, you have given us tremendous resources of oil and gas, wind and sun.In your sovereign majesty you have infused your creation with an overwhelming amount of power. In your mysterious wisdom you declared us to be the stewards of this great energy.
Who are we that you have given us the profound gift of this earth?
You have given us creativity, wisdom, and wit
To explore, harness, and direct this power.
You have written your law upon our hearts
that we can steward this power for good, and not evil.
For beauty and not destruction.
Today we lift up our sisters and brothers who work in energy.
Lord, you have placed your abundant creation into their care. Enable them, we pray, to steward and direct these resources in ways that honor you and fill you with delight.
In their daily responsibilities and decisions, may they bring glory to your name and service to your people.
This coming Monday enable each of these workers to care for the people and the creation entrusted to their care.
Give them hearts and hands that seek your glory
Protect them and all who work at their side.
Give them dreams in the night,
solutions to their challenges,
innovations for their problems,
new pathways through the quagmire
break through the stalemates in their companies today.
Through the power of your Spirit,
Enable them to do the right thing; popular or not,
may they and their daily work be counted among the righteous.
Bless them this week as they heat our homes and hospitals
Our schools and art galleries
Our cars and our churches.
Bless them great God
as they light our streets
connect our families
and enable us to study, travel, laugh, and play.
May their work this week
Their meetings and projects
Their emails and deadlines
Their zoom calls and reports
Those who work above them
And those below them
May all these tasks, large or small, be shot through with your love, your mercy, and your divine energy. Be with all these workers who stand before you today
