Written by Katie Roelofs
When their work takes them places they don’t want to go
Christ be with them
Christ be with them
When they rush to the scene everyone else is fleeing
Christ before them
In danger, in peril, in flame, and in harm
Christ behind them
As they step into harm’s way using their skills and expertise
Christ beneath them
As they turn their eyes towards suffering and destruction
Christ above them
Christ, be on their right and on their left.
Christ, protect.
Christ, defend.
May they arise today in the mighty strength of the Lord of all creation who equips them, and goes with them this day and always.
Amen.
